Human Rights Day: UN Special Procedures Issue Joint Statement on Climate Change

The UN Special Procedure Mandate Holders issued a joint statement on climate change on Human Rights Day, December 10th, which urges States to integrate human rights in the climate negotiations aimed at adopting a new climate agreement in Paris in December 2015.

The statement discusses the negative effects of climate change on people around the world. It encourages States to "incorporate their existing obligations under the human rights framework into the climate change negotiations," and "make sure that human rights are at the core of climate change governance."

The statement is available in English here, as well as in Spanish.
