UN Independent Experts Call for Measures to Eradicate Racial Discrimination

UN independent experts joined together to call on UN Member States and stakeholders to increase their continued efforts to address racial discrimination. On December 10, International Human Rights Day, the experts welcomed the launch of the International Decade for People of African Descent that will begin a "significant political commitment in the fight against racial discrimination." The experts noted that people of African descent face discrimination and institutional racism.  They stressed that discrimination leads to marginalization, which in turn leads to individuals' inability to exercise their fundamental human rights. Thus, the experts welcomed the International Decade as an opportunity to eradicate racism and discrimination. Read the press release here.
